Badrinath is a holy town in Uttarakhand, known for the Badrinath Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Surrounded by the Himalayan mountains, the temple is one of the four sacred Char Dham sites in India. It is also part of the Chota Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand.

If you wish to visit Yamunotri, Gangotri and Kedarnath along with Badrinath, our Char Dham Yatra packages offer a way to cover all four temples in one journey.

Some are close to the main temple, while others need a short drive or walk. Here are the main places you can explore during your Badrinath Yatra.

Badrinath Temple

Badrinath Temple is one of the most important temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It stands beside the Alaknanda River, surrounded by beautiful Himalayan mountains. The temple is part of both the Char Dham and Chota Char Dham Yatra.

Every year, thousands of devotees come here to offer prayers and seek blessings. The temple is also known for its colourful entrance and peaceful surroundings.

You can reach Badrinath town by road. From the parking area, you need to walk to the temple. During the busy season, you may have to wait in a long queue for darshan.

Tapt Kund and Narad Kund

Tapt Kund is a natural hot water spring located near Badrinath Temple. Many devotees take a holy bath here before going for darshan. The water stays warm even during cold weather.

Narad Kund is another holy water pool located nearby. According to local beliefs, Adi Shankaracharya found the idol of Lord Vishnu in this pool.

Both places are close to the temple and can be seen during your visit. Follow the local rules and take care near the hot water.

Brahma Kapal

Brahma Kapal is a holy place on the banks of the Alaknanda River, close to Badrinath Temple. It is mainly known for prayers offered in memory of family members who have passed away.

Many families come here to perform Pind Daan and other religious rituals. According to Hindu beliefs, these prayers help bring peace to departed souls.

The place is within walking distance of the main temple. If you wish to perform any rituals, you can speak with a local priest.

Charan Paduka

Charan Paduka is a holy site located around 3 km from Badrinath Temple. It has a rock with marks that are believed to be the footprints of Lord Vishnu.

To reach this place, visitors need to walk uphill along a mountain path. The trek can take around 1.5 to 2 hours each way, based on your walking speed.

The route offers beautiful mountain views. However, the uphill walk can be tiring, especially for elderly visitors.

Sheshnetra

Sheshnetra is another religious place near Badrinath Temple. It is known for a large rock with a natural mark that is believed to look like the eye of Sheshnag.

In Hindu tradition, Sheshnag is closely linked to Lord Vishnu. This makes the place important for many devotees.

Sheshnetra is about 1 km from the temple area and can be reached on foot. You can include it in your nearby sightseeing plan.

Mata Murti Temple

Mata Murti Temple is located around 3–4 km from Badrinath, near the Alaknanda River. The temple is dedicated to Mata Murti, who is believed to be the mother of Nar and Narayan.

Many devotees visit this temple to offer prayers. A special festival is also held here every year in honour of Mata Murti.
